A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

They saw a lot of places, but there was always something that one of them did not like about them.

At last, however, they found a block of new flats which both of them really liked.

However, there was still the problem of whether they should take one of the ground floor flats, which had a small garden or one of the upstairs ones.

At last they decided on a first-floor flat—not too low down and not too high up—and moved in.

After they had bought furniture, carpets, curtains and all the rest, they gave a big party to celebrate the setting up of their first home together.

It was a gay and noisy party, as all the host’s friends from the band came and played their instruments.

The guests danced, sang and practiced on their host’s drums.

Soon after one a.m. the telephone rang.

The hostess went to answer it in the hall, and after she had finished, came back with a happy smile on her face and said to her husband,

‘That was the man who has just moved into the flat downstairs telephoning, dear.

I am so glad we decided not to choose it.

He said it is terribly noisy down there.’

1.A man had just married and was looking for somewhere to live.

2.At last they found a block of new flats.

3.They decided on a first-floor flat and moved in.

4.They gave a big party to celebrate.

5.It was a gay and noisy party.

6.After one a.m. the telephone rang.

7.The hostess went to answer it.

8.That was the man who has just moved into the flat downstairs.

9.He said it is terribly noisy down there. (It seemed he was going crazy.)

10.The hostess said that to her husband with a happy smile because she had not realized that they WERE the source of the noise.

A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.
(A gay young man)and( he)and(his wife ),但解析中,您並末將這個AND放入,因為修飾用語嗎?

A gay young man,(who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married), and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

A gay young man had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

P.S.I have to be going. So long.

A gay young man,(who earned his living as a drummer in a band), had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

大意的標準隨人體會,沒有一定規則;

A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

[A gay young man (, who earned his living as a drummer in a band,) had just married,] and [he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.]

[A gay young man (, who earned his living as a drummer in a band,) had just married,]
and
[he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.]

第二個and連接 he and his wife

A man having just married and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

Dear 茱麗葉 and all:

A gay young man,
who earned his living as a drummer in a band,

had just married

, and ( then )

he and his wife

were looking for somewhere to live.

A man had just married, and then he was looking for somewhere to live with his wife.

A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

第一個and 是連接 a man just married
2. 第二個and 是連接 that man (he)

DEAR 大路:

第一個「, and」是 and then 的意思,第二個 and ,是 「he and his wife」;

1. A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married.

2. he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

A gay young man "and" had just married.

2.第二個and 上文是:he (a gay young man) "and" his wife .

A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, and he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

這裡只有兩個 and, 第一個是-「...had just married, and he...」,第二個是-「he and his wife...」。

根據妳的描述,妳是把「... as a drummer in a band...」

A man having just married and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.
A man and his wife 後面?

A man had just married, and then he was looking for somewhere to live with his wife.,這樣同樣隱含這位男士有可能是和別人結婚,而且是他自己一人在忙著找房子,找好後才將他的妻子接來住。

A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, [and he] and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

Dear Philo-sopher:

They saw a lot of places
, but
there was always something
that one of them did not like about them.

A gay young had just married, and (then) he and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

而我認為,既然 ,and he 的 and 是 and then 的意思,它應該是不可省略的;一但省略了,就變成 his wife was looking.... 這樣一來,跟原來 he and his wife were looking...

[A gay young man, (who earned his living as a drummer in a band,) had just married,] and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

一個名詞子句跟名詞his wife共用一個動詞were looking for

我會這樣問是當初看到這個句子and he and his wife..................
(A gay young man had just married) was looking for somewhere to live.

更正:
and he and his wife

第一個and 是連接 前面的 "A gay young man had just married,"

how about

A gay young man, who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married, and this new couple were looking for somewhere to live.

Dear Philo-sopher:

who earned his living as a drummer in a band, had just married,

這段敘述,都是在修飾 A gay young man,所以可以直接逗上 and his wife were....

who earned his living as a drummer in a band, THAT had just married,

這或許是可行的造句方式,但是仍然稍嫌多餘;不如 Mae 一語道破:the new couple were looking for somewhere to live.

A gay young man had just married and his wife were looking for somewhere to live.

(A gay young man had just married )
共用動詞were looking for

(A gay young man had just married) was looking for somewhere to live.

and : used as a function word to express logical modification, consequence
